Tutorial
FG3D Customizer is really simple and intuitive. You work with just two buttons and the video is sufficiently explanatory. In this tutorial we try to successfully import various Skinned Mesh Object to be added to the 3D character so as to avoid mistakes. Let us keep in mind that “FG3D Customizer” works correctly if the target object and imported object have same skeleton.
This is a generic Tutorial; It is not a tutorial to import something on FG3D 3D-Characters!
As an example, I will use DAZ3D Studio (version 4.9) and Genesis 2 as a 3D character and any cloth (or hair) to add.
Carefully observe the skeleton.
Add a cloth
The skeleton looks identical, but Is that really so? Now we load the clothing without the 3D character and see who is missing some bones of the skeleton, namely, lacking all the bones are not used.
This 3D object can not be used with FG3D Customizer or any other script That uses shared skinned-mesh.
Fortunately, it helps us a DAZ Studio tool “Transfer Utility“. Load Genesis 2 3D character and any Cloth doing so they are not related to each other (Unparent). Go to Edit/Figure/Transfer Utility
Choose as “Source Scene Item” our 3D character Genesis 2 and as “Target Scene Item” the cloth which we loaded. Then, click on “Show Options” and then on “Weight Maps.” (Look General Option) We must ensure that the option Extended Options “Remove Unused Bones” is disabled.
Then, click Accept. The cloth will be updated with the full skeletal system and it can be exported to function properly. That’s all.
It seems that FG3D characters have another sceleton than Genesis 2. Don’t work.
This is a generic Tutorial; It is not a tutorial to import on FG3D 3D-Characters. Yes, FG3D has a different system does Genesis 2. You can try to import from Victoria4 or MIchael 4. I have not tried it but it might work. 🙂
